The contract itself, yes. In Brazil the law requires no particular form for most contracts between private parties, and electronic signatures are expressly admitted: Provisional Measure 2.200-2/2001 states in article 10, §2 that electronic documents signed by other means are valid as long as the parties accept them as adequate, and Law 14.063/2020 sorts signatures into three levels and recognises the first two between private parties. In the European Union the eIDAS Regulation applies, and in the United States the ESIGN Act and UETA set out equivalent principles. One important caveat: the signing does not happen inside Contractype (see the next question). High-value contracts and regulated sectors still deserve a lawyer's review.

The signing itself happens outside the tool, wherever you choose: an electronic signature platform, a notary, or pen on paper. If you pick the digital format, the PDF comes with a signature box for each party and no witness lines; in the in-person format it comes with handwritten signature lines and space for two witnesses. We are not a signature provider — we do not issue or hold anyone's certificate.

For everyday agreements — a freelance project, a rental between people who know each other, a loan to a friend — the contract generated here covers the essentials and is far better than a verbal deal. For large amounts, complex partnerships or regulated sectors, take the document to a lawyer: reviewing costs far less than drafting from scratch.
